Dear Parents,
I wanted to take a few minutes of your time to tell you about some great things happening in The Hangar, the Children’s Ministry of Southwest Community Church. As you know, we are committed to help you, as parents, to raise your children up in the ways of the Lord and want to do our best to partner with you in this way. Our desire is to do this through resources, weekend services, midweek ministries and special events. Let me highlight just a few.
If you go to our website, www.thehangar.org , you will find an area highlighting resources for parents. These resources also include links to sites that review the latest videos for rent, current movies in theaters, computer games, video console games as well as some safety tips for internet usage.
Each weekend we offer high-energy, exciting and upbeat church services designed for children. In Basic Training, birth through 5 years, children are taught in their classrooms and also have to opportunity to participate in group worship in their very own music room. While in the music room, children participate in singing and interact with our puppets during the teaching time. In Flight School, kindergarten through 5th grade, children participate in games, engage in fun and meaningful worship and are challenged with a biblically based lesson in a room specially designed for them. The Flight School children also participate in small groups during the service where they can connect with an adult teacher, Squadron Leader, as well as with children in their grade level. Fixed Point is the ministry designed for our 5th graders to give them a further sense of identity within Flight School.
Midweek we offer small groups for children through Kid U, designed to help children go deeper in their faith and become fully devoted followers of Jesus. Kid U is open to children in the 1st through 5th grade and meets on Tuesday nights.
Over the course of the year we offer special events for children and families. We are constantly evaluating the Children’s Ministries so there are times when we may make changes to the special events we offer but here are the events we have planned at this point.
It is our great desire to see the children in our ministry develop a deep and meaningful relationship with God the Father and our Lord Jesus Christ. As the children go through our Basic Training ministry we want them to know the following: God Made Me; God Loves Me; Jesus Wants to Be My Friend Forever. Once the children have progressed through Flight School we want them to know the following: I need to do the wise thing; I can trust God no matter what; I should treat others the way I want to be treated; I can start living for God when I am young and follow Him for life.
We cannot do this ministry alone and we know that as much as we love your children and want to see them grow in their relationship with the Lord, you love them and want to see them grow even more.
