What To Expect

Welcome to Flight School!

We are pleased to have your child join us in their journey of growing in their faith.  It is a responsibility that we don’t take lightly as we partner with you to teach your child of God’s love and plan of salvation for them!

Our mission statement in Children’s Ministry here at SCC is:

“To win kids to Christ and help them have a growing relationship with Him.”

A few things we’d like you to know as your Kindergartener - 5th grader joins us...

  • God Time and Refrigerator Door are our kid's version of a celebration folder.  The entire lesson is in there as well as some questions & activities to do together as a family!

  • Bring your Bible!  We teach out of the NiRv (New International READERS Version) and encourage your kids to bring theirs!  If they just moved up from Basic Training, it’s the one they received there recently.

  • Please remind your child that we will not let them leave until you come to pick them up at the end of service.  If they are staying over for a second service on Sunday they will need to re-check in between services.  We will remind them.

  • No Going to the Bathroom is one of the rules of Flight School, so please make sure to ask your child if they need to go before you drop them off.  (Of course if it’s an emergency, we will get them there.)

  • Bible Bucks are our incentive program for the Kindergarteners - 5th graders of Flight School.  They earn them by reading their Bible (1/day), by returning their God Time within a few weeks of the lesson signed by a parent that you discussed it together (5), bringing a friend who has never come to our church before (5), and by playing the game (1).  They collect them at the Bible Buck Bank before or after services and they can redeem them at the Bible Buck Store every other weekend for said amounts.  It’s up to them if they want to save them up or spend them, but it’s their responsibility to keep them as they are “like cash.”

  • If your child would like to participate in the weekly game they must sign up by the check in area when they arrive.  Some games we do not draw names for.  If a child does not want to participate, that's fine.

  • All Squadron Leaders are wearing a red baseball jersey. Please look to them if you have any questions when you drop your child off.

  • Offering!  Children bring in their offering that they put in the boys/girls bucket at offering time.  If they bring cash, they can change that in for quarters at offering time or when they arrive to Flight School.  The money they bring in each week goes to support the Narrow Door organization in Indio, CA.  Our goal is $500 a month as that is the pledge amount to support them.(Only on a few occasions have they fallen short! These kids are amazing!) If you would like to contact the narrow door, visit their website http://www.thenarrowdoor.org/

If you have any questions at any time, please contact anyone on the Flight School team in a orange shirt.  Our weekend coordinators are:  Saturday nights: Susan Coia and Sundays: Kamiren Swanson and Lily Hoffman. Our Children's Worship Leader is Reagan Helms, our Web/Graphic/Media Cordinator is Joseph Sampson and our Media Intern is Kenny Humphrey.

Thank you again for the privilege of having your child in Flight School!
